Recently, I have had goats on my mind. Even though goat yoga has been around since 2015, I just, not too long ago, heard about this unique form of yoga. It is used as a new type of yoga animal therapy.
This all makes perfect sense to me. There is no doubt in my mind that animals affect our mental health in a very positive, significant way. So, is it at all surprising that so many people are drawn to either participating in goat yoga, or at least inquisitive about this experience?
Let’s consider some of the positives. Firstly, the baby goats are just so cute!! Can you really get the most physical yoga workout? That would most probably be doubtful. On a mental level, however, you cannot deny that goat yoga has that going for it. How can you possibly take yourself so seriously with a goat standing on your back munching on your hair? Many of us would feel so much lighter if we just took ourselves less seriously.
Your nervous system calms down while your muscles are stretching out. The biggest bonus of goat yoga is all the laughing that carries itself from one participant to another. Who doesn’t want to improve their mood, feel happier, and decrease their blood pressure at the same time?
Laughter therapy has shown a positive effect on the immune system. Try it for yourself. Laughter and stress simply don’t go together. Start laughing, and watch how the stress dwindles away.
So who wants to try goat yoga? We do at Asheville Country Cabins! Come visit with us. We’d love to hear all about your goat experiences!
